About Me

Joseph Sevigny

I am a PhD graduate student at the University of New Hampshire and Research Assistant at the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies. I spend most of my days doing bioinformatics - writing code to analyze next-generation sequencing data. My current work has been focused on improving metagenomic analyses of benthic metazoa by vastly expanding the set of meiofaunal genome references. As of today, I am writing scripts to analyze mitochondrial metagenomic data. Outside of work I enjoy traveling, I'll be heading to a camping trip to Yellowstone in July. Check out my blog.

My Career

PhD (in progress) - University of New Hampshire

Molecular, Evolutionary, and Systems Biology. Bioinformtics Focus

Present
Graduate Student, Research/Teaching Assistant and Bioinformatician at Hubbard Center for Genome Studies. I also teach workshops aimed at bringing bioinfomrtics into the core biology curriculum.

BS - New England College

Duel Major - Biology and Environemental Science

2015
First bublication on "The Mitochondrial Genomes of Two Nudibranch Molluscs and Their Impact on Gastropoda Phylogeny". This reallly got me hooked on bioinformatics. I also worked on circadian rhythm research which involved dissecting melibe brains.
